Delegated Authority Business Claims - UK Branch

The Delegated Authority Business Claims settlement stream focuses on the management of claims and claims arrangements stemming from delegated underwriting authority contracts whereby HDI Global Specialty SE provides capacity to specialist third party companies who act as virtual insurers under their own brand.

The team arranges, manages and maintains outsourced claims handling through a number of different claims service providers and administrators (TPAs) by ensuring:

  • Contracts are in place
  • Appropriate delegated authority provisions are set and monitored
  • Large Loss control
  • Extensive audit completion
  • Receipt of quality claims data


Agency works with TPAs as an extension of Delegated Authority Claims’ own team, seeking to support and sustain HDI Global Specialty SE’s own technical ability and professional claims handling approach.


Insurance Solutions Claims - UK Branch

The Single Risk Claims team in London focuses on the management of claims and claims arrangements stemming from Single Risk underwriting contracts written in the UK branch. Our London office handles General Insurance and Facultative Reinsurance claims for the following lines of business:

Aviation Claims

Should an accident occur which involves an insurable loss underwritten by HDI Global Specialty SE please follow the steps outlined below to ensure as smooth a claims process as possible.

  • All claims/casualties should be reported to HDI Global Specialty SE as soon as possible by telephone, fax or e-mail.
  • Please send us a copy of the accident report filed with the Accident Investigation Board.


HDI Global Specialty SE will define the action to take after an accident. Please note that a crashed aircraft must not be removed or otherwise touched until the Accident Investigation Board has approved the release of the aircraft.

Once the Accident Investigation Board has approved the release, the damaged aircraft should be secured. To allow the aircraft to be salvaged safely a licensed mechanic must assist during the salvage operation.

A copy of the Aviation Authority accident report should be sent to HDI Global Specialty SE as soon as possible together with photos if available.

Theft or burglary must be notified to the police and a copy of the police report sent to HDI Global Specialty SE together with a schedule of stolen/damaged items.

Our experts have many years of 'hands on' experience in developing highly efficient and effective claims-handling procedures.

Marine & Specie Claims

Should a claim occur which involves an insurable loss that has been underwritten by HDI Global Specialty SE, please follow the steps outlined below to ensure as smooth a claims process as possible.

    • All claims/casualties should be reported to HDI Global Specialty SE as soon as possible by telephone or e-mail.
    • HDI Global Specialty SE will define the action to take after the claim has been reported. We may for instance wish to appoint an independent surveyor/loss adjuster such as Cunningham Lindsey or Lars Krogius AB.

It is of utmost importance that measures are taken to minimise the extent of the damages, prevent further aggravation of the damages, secure the rights of recovery against the carrier and/or other third party than can be considered liable for the damages and enable swift and correct handling of the claim.

At HDI Global Specialty SE, we have in house claims specialists to handle physical damage and liability claims for Hull and Machinery, Marine Cargo, Freight Forwarders' Liability and Political Risks claims. We have several years of 'hands on' claims handling and have developed efficient and effective claims handling routines.
